Dressy or Casual for the 4th

Most of the time we have casual 4th of July BBQs or family/friend get togethers. Every once in a while though, we like to be a little dressier (but still casual!). In a minimal wardrobe, it can be hard to dress for holidays. Not that you have to, but dressing for them can certainly be fun. Obviously, the simplest way to do that is to incorporate that holiday’s typical color scheme – for us here in the states: red, white, and blue for our Independence Day. I kept the same pants, shoes, watch, and wallet for both outfits here for some streamlining.

I did the boards as a couple. Overall, the main inspiration was stars for the women’s and stripes for the men’s (for fun!). In the women’s outfits I kept the pants, purse, watch, and ring the same between both outfits. I feel like most our 4th of Julys have been very typical – family/friend BBQs and watching fireworks. Last year we went swimming for a few hours before our BBQ and were so tuckered that we just called it a day instead of viewing fireworks. Staying home turned out best because one of our kiddos ended up showing signs of mild heat stroke and needed to rest and re-hydrate for the evening. It’s weird to think you could get heat stroke even at the pool, but it happens in our 100+ degree weather! Anyhoo, thanks for visiting and stay hydrated this week!
